Opening Ceremony of ACPPRC 10th Anniversary and Cross-Strait Peace and Development Summit
In the morning of 6th August 2010, ACPPRC held the Opening Ceremony of 10th Anniversary and Cross-Strait Peace and Development Forum at the Theatrette, New South Wales Parliament House. Representatives from the Overseas Chinese Committee of the National Peoples' Congress, Overseas Chinese Ministry of the State Council, Taiwan Affairs Ministry of the State Council, Overseas Chinese Hong Kong Macau Taiwan Affairs Committee, the National Peoples' Political Consultative Conference, the China Overseas Friendship Association, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Australian VIPs, and representatives of CPPRC from five continents, attended the Opening Ceremony and afternoon's forum.
 

After William Chiu's speech, there were eight official addresses from the following VIPs:
H.E. Chen Yun Lin, Director of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Committee of the National People’s Political Consultative Conference;
Mr. Li Lu, Deputy Executive Secretary General of China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification.
H.E Zhang Junsai, Ambassador of the PRC to Australia;
The Hon. Laurie Ferguson MP, representing the Federal Prime Minister;
The Hon. Philip Ruddock MP, representing the Leader of Federal Opposition;
The Hon. John Aquilina, representing NSW Premier;
Mr. Yok Mu Ming, President of Taiwan New Party;
Mr. Juen Tsch Kuo, Chairman of Taiwan Association for Cross-Strait Peaceful Reunification.

 
 

Sydney “Cross Strait Peace and Development Summit” Declaration was read out by Dr Tony Goh, Deputy Chairman of ACPPRC, and was passed unanimously.

MC of the Opening Ceremony were Dr Ven Tan, Deputy Chairman of ACPPRC, and Prof. Qun Shao, Vice Chairman and Secretary- General of ACPPRC.

The focus of the Summit was to explore ways and means of furthering the Reunification of China and the Taiwan Province. Some speakers suggested possible ways by which Australia might further assist the peace and development of China and Taiwan by some usable means .
